How will our community plan for the new job growth?
On August 18 there will be a Town Hall Meeting starting at 6:00 pm, open to all residents, at the Jefferson Community Center. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information on plans, opportunities and needs related to the large increase in new jobs coming to Greene County over the next couple years. "We are fortunate to have this growth but we need to be prepared to maximize this opportunity so we can grow our population and attract new families to our community," said Greene County Development Corp. Executive Director Ken Paxton.
On the 18th a panel of local planners and committed residents will present a wide range of information related to how the county maximizes its growth. Topics to be covered during the meeting include:
-General overview of current projects/new jobs/Greene County Marketing Plan- Ken Paxton, Greene County Development Corp
-Housing- need for sale and rental properties, housing projects update, local incentives available- Lisa Jaskey, City Council/Housing Committee
-Need for day care facilities- Greene County Early Learning Center
-Skilled trade job needs/opportunities and support- Todd Spencer,IWD
-Business opportunities around the square- Alan Robinson, Jefferson
Matters Main Street
-Update on Home Base Iowa- Jim Andrew, Greene County Labor Taskforce
and military veteran
-Incentive package for veterans and new residents
-Casino project update by Wild Rose management
-Update on Hy-Vee project
